Reviews for Sora Sushi & Seafood Buffet
Review highlights
Based on 301 reviewsReviews of Sora Sushi & Seafood Buffet commonly highlight its extensive variety and good value, especially for lunch priced around $25. Customers appreciate the wide selection of sushi, raw seafood, cooked dishes, and desserts, noting the freshness and quality of key items like salmon sashimi and certain hot foods. The spacious seating, friendly service, and ample parking are also frequently mentioned positively. However, some diners express a desire for a broader range of fish options in the sushi offerings and find that while the variety is impressive, few dishes stand out as must-try. Overall, the buffet is recognized as a convenient and satisfying option for a diverse seafood and Asian food experience in Natick.
I have tried the lunch for about $25/person. It's a great price for the variety they offer. The sushi was good but it would be better if they had more selection for the type of fish offered. There's muscles and clams for lunch time, which many people like. There's also the cooked foods section that offered a good variety. There's also some fruit, cake desserts, and freezer ice cream. There's an interesting small section for clam chowder or Chinese sweet soup, but they are over diluted. One of the pluses is that they offer bubble tea, sago, or nice drinks in their fridge section. The restaurant is spacious with a relaxing atmosphere. The service is nice.
We came here for lunch on a Monday before an afternoon at Level99. There were a decent number of people at the restaurant. It's huge and well lit and there are so many food options. $25 is good value for the sheer variety, but I wouldn't say anything I had was worth coming back for. Things I liked: the shrimp in the seafood treasure, chicken wings, fish maw soup, Mandarin oranges, and cheesecake. Things I didn't like: the raw seafood, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup It was cool to see a fridge full of fruit and milk tea options. I got a milk tea which tasted a bit watered down. It definitely brought me back to the Chinese buffets of my childhood, and was on par with those, but was nothing special.
I went here at 100 clock for lunch, an hour before closing. I have to rate this the best buffet I've ever been to. The salmon sushi and sashimi were better quality than my expectations. I didn't eat much of the hot food, but there were plenty of choices, and the hot food was hot. If you're in the area, it's a must try. I didn't take photos of every plate so as not to make me look like a hog ! Highly recommend Sora. Service was friendly and fast to refill water and clear plates. I will be back just for the sushi selection.
Went for lunch with three others. We all agree that its a decent buffet restaurant for what you get. Seats were spacious and servers were friendly. Plenty free parking is available in the front. Food sections were variety from sushi rolls, raw sea foods, grills, warm asian foods, and dessert. Display was neat and organized. Foods were all fresh. My favorites were Sichuan style beef with tripe and raw sea foods. Low salt foods are always the best for health, but sushi rolls can be improved with flavoring. Highly recommend for a group of people seeking to gather for an event
Excited to see a place like Minado open just months after its closure! We heard the management is the same as The Hungry Pot, which is just a few steps away. The overall vibe felt very similar, even though it’s a different concept. We arrived around 7 p.m. and were met with a long line and plenty of people waiting around the parking lot. We checked in but weren’t given an estimated wait time. It would definitely help if they provided a time estimate upon check-in or via text—knowing if it’s an hour or more would let us walk around the mall nearby instead of waiting aimlessly. In the end, our wait was a little under 30 minutes. The decor is nice—some reviews mention missing the previous wall divisions, and it did feel very open at first, probably because we were used to the old layout. But once seated, the openness didn’t bother us. Our server was quick to offer drinks and chopsticks, and then we were off to explore the buffet. Prices are slightly higher than Minado’s were, but still worth it. They offer a wider variety of seafood, plus more desserts and some drinks are included (The drinks on the fridge by the dessert area in the back near the sushi’s). The selection of rolls seemed a bit smaller, but they were still delicious, and the nigiri section was excellent. We especially loved the snow crab legs—cooked to perfection. Other highlights: the seafood boil, coconut shrimp, seaweed salad, oysters, and clams. They even had lobster, though it was cut into small pieces, which made it a bit tricky to eat. Some reviews mention bland food, but we found everything flavorful and fresh. The dessert area was basic but a nice way to finish off the meal. I enjoyed the chocolate pudding and some fresh fruit. The included drinks were a fun bonus—we tried the wintermelon tea (though it didn’t have boba) and green apple juice. Nothing extraordinary, but still appreciated. At $38.99 per adult, I’d say it’s worth it. Next time, I’ll try coming a little earlier to see if the variety changes—although we were already impressed, I did notice a few items mentioned in other reviews that weren’t available when we went. Kid pricing is reasonable, and they have options for picky eaters (pizza slices, fries, chicken nuggets, fruit), plus the dessert section and rainbow popsicles would definitely be a hit with little ones. Bonus: I noticed they come out to sing happy birthday with one of those LED screens—nice touch if you’re into that kind of thing!
It was my first time there, and the experience was amazing! The seafood was super fresh and delicious. The lobster and cod were to die for! And the sushi was also on point! The service was top-notch! I'm gonna come back for sure and recommend it to my friends.
After 21 years, Minado Restaurant closed its doors on September 10, 2024. With the grand opening of Sora Sushi & Seafood Buffet on April 21, 2025, I was curious to see if they’d recapture Minado’s former glory. The result? A mixed experience. Those familiar with the nearby Hungry Pot might notice some similarities—both restaurants share the same management, which initially boosted my excitement for Sora’s opening. Parking is straightforward, thanks to a large, shared lot spanning several businesses. The newly updated sign is bright and eye-catching, a refreshing upgrade from Minado’s subdued, easy-to-miss signage. Inside, the restaurant features a glossy, marble waiting area. My wife and I arrived at 8:30 PM, avoiding the typical rush when lines stretch outside. We were promptly seated, but quickly encountered our first issue: our server didn’t seem to speak or understand much English. Asking for hot water or even a Coke proved challenging (though it turns out they serve Pepsi anyway). The dining area itself has undergone some noticeable renovations. Gone are the dividers between tables, creating a more open atmosphere. Personally, I didn’t mind the change, though some diners who prefer more privacy might miss the partitions. Hungry Pot’s signature squiggly lights illuminate the space pleasantly without being harsh. The buffet layout remains largely the same, split into sushi selections on the left and hot food dishes on the right. Arriving late meant minimal lines, and I quickly grabbed everything I wanted—including the coveted ginger scallion lobster—before others noticed. The sushi area differed slightly from the preview images, with sashimi presented in large piles rather than individual portions. Before visiting, I noticed several negative reviews criticizing bland food, so my expectations were tempered. Also, a lot of food was mislabeled, echoing my earlier complaint of our waiter not seeming to understand English. However, I was pleasantly surprised by most of my selections: • Pork Spare Ribs: Tender, juicy, and lightly glazed with a sweet sauce. • Snow Crab Legs: Perfectly cooked, easy to crack open and extract the meat. • Cheesy Mussels: Enjoyable, though notably not as good as Minado’s version. • Fried Shell-on Shrimp (with head): Crispy, lightly salted, flavorful—but still not quite matching Minado’s. • Blue Shell Crab: A delightful surprise. Sweet and tasty meat as expected • Stone Crab (halved): Oddly crumbly texture; I honestly wasn’t sure how to eat this. • Korean Galbi: Tough and disappointing—not recommended. • Salt & Pepper Frog’s: Surprisingly delicious, strongly recommended. • Hokkigai (Surf Clam Sashimi): Another unexpected highlight; I kept going back for more. and so many more... I didn’t sample the sushi rolls, but visually there appeared to be fewer options than Minado previously offered, and the rolls seemed to use extra rice (possibly a tactic to fill diners faster). The dessert area sparked mixed feelings. There’s a variety of cakes and a freezer filled with popsicles, Melona bars, and single-serving ice cream cups. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived, the Melona bars had run out. I found myself missing Minado’s original soft-serve machine, which previously offered vanilla, matcha, or a combination. Service was mediocre. Despite clearly placing my empty cup near the table’s edge, our server walked by multiple times without offering a refill until explicitly prompted. Considering it was their opening day, though, I’ll give the benefit of the doubt—perhaps everyone was overwhelmed.
Went for lunch grand opening. Food was bland. None of the makis had any taste. They all tasted the same. Sashimi was meh but better than some ayce sushi places. Just great that they offer sashimi for lunch and not just dinner. The hot items were also bland. I can get better food at an average Chinese restaurant. The free drinks were nice. The bubble teas weren’t very flavorful but I appreciate the effort. Hate it when ayce places charge you for drinks. Dessert was ok, wish there were more variety instead of ice cream and a few pieces of cake. The crepe cake was delicious. Service was great. They removed the plates fast and was very attentive. For 25$ ayce seafood and sushi it is a great deal but the food is below average. Worth it for the money if you don’t mind that
